The Annual Macon County Gemboree features fine gemstones, jewelry, rough and cut gemstones, minerals, fossils and much more! For the gem and jewelry enthusiasts, this festival is a must.

Winter Wonderland
The Town of Franklin presents … WINTER WONDERLAND 2020
Saturdays • November 28th and December 5th – 5:00pm to 8:00pm
Join with the Town of Franklin for this most wonderful time of year as Historic Downtown Franklin is transformed into a “Winter Wonderland” featuring: living window displays of Christmas & the Holidays, live sounds of the season outdoors at the downtown gazebo and inside stores, FREE holiday attractions (weather permitting), refreshments, hot cider, great sales from downtown merchants and much more.
Winter Wonderland is held on the two consecutive Saturdays after Thanksgiving.
The November 28th edition of Winter Wonderland coincides with Small Business Saturday® founded by American Express®. Plus, that night we hold our Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on the Square! Remember, our Downtown Merchants are open late both nights of Winter Wonderland with great gift ideas for everyone on your shopping list!

Franklin’s Annual Independence Day Celebration begins with our annual 4th of July Parade at 10:00am. While you go most places to see a parade, we actually invite you to participate! Deck out in red, white and blue and walk or drive down Main Street. NO REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. To join in, just be in the lower level of Franklin Town Hall for lineup beginning at 9:30 am.
Following the parade the Town has several great contests planned including Little Mr. & Miss Firecracker Contest at 10:15 am. This contest is open to ages 3 to 6 and is judged on patriotic costume and one question. No registration is required. The Patriotic Pet Contest follows so deck your pets out in red, white, and blue for this fun contest!
Other events include an all new & FREE Kids Zone with inflatables. You can enjoy Free Watermelon & Popcorn (as long as it lasts). Activities conclude at 12 Noon and this event is held rain or shine!
Many of our Downtown Merchants & Restaurants will be open so be sure to check out the many unique shopping opportunities and eateries Franklin, NC has to offer.
Following the Town of Franklin’s activities, travel to the Macon County Veteran’s Park (south of Franklin on U.S. 441) and join the Franklin Chamber of Commerce for their annnual fun day and fireworks display co-sponsored by the Town of Franklin, NC.
It’s a great day and evening of family fun as we celebrate our Nation’s 244th Birthday in Historic Franklin, North Carolina!

Hometown Heritage Festival
Presented by the Merchants of Downtown Franklin, North Carolina
Saturday, July 18th • 9:00am to 4:00pm
Sponsored by over 30 Downtown Franklin, North Carolina Merchants …. the Hometown Heritage Festival brings a day of free fun for all ages on Saturday, July 18, 2020!
Nearly 70 vendors will be featured including live demonstrations of heritage arts & crafts. You’ll see quilters, wood carvers, canoe builders and even a live, working gem mining flume. They will all be setup on the sidewalks and in front of businesses giving everyone easy access to them.
Many other events are planned including a firetruck display and face painting for the kids, Plus with it being a celebration of Appalachia, you’ll be hearing a lot of music from guitar to dulcimer, banjo to flute and even piano at the Gazebo on the Square as well as in front of Wells Fargo.
As you can see there is so much to do but … take your time and leisurely walk up and down the sidewalks and take in what makes Franklin a true small town treasure. The Hometown Heritage Festival is great, FREE FUN for all ages.

The Merchants of Downtown Franklin, North Carolina present Airing of the Quilts

Sponsored by over 30 Downtown Franklin, North Carolina Merchants the Airing of the Quilts is an outdoor quilt show that showcases this timeless piece of our Appalachian heritage. See quilts displayed all throughout Historic Downtown Franklin as businesses and homeowners will be hanging quilts from their store fronts and porches that will create an unbelievable burst of spring color throughout the Town of Franklin, NC.
In addition, the Airing of the Quilts celebration will feature Quilting Vendors, Arts & Crafts Vendors, Quilting Demonstrations, Great Giveaways and much, much more!
